Why Life Well Lived? Because Malcolm Gladwell Thinks It Is A Good Idea.

I recently discovered the joys of podcasts. One of my favourites is Malcolm Gladwell’s Revisionist History. You probably know Malcolm from reading one of his best-selling books, including The Tipping Point, Outliers and Blink. Through his podcast, Malcolm goes back and reinterprets something from the past: an event, a person, an idea.

He kicks off season 3 with a bonus podcast featuring Adam Grant, an engaging American psychologist and author, who is currently a professor at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, specializing in organizational psychology.

Adam’s research interests include job design and meaningful work, leadership and culture and work motivation and success, among others. With that in mind, towards the end of the podcast, Adam asks Malcolm the following question: if you were CEO of a large organization, what policies would you either kill or create that would change the way work/life is experienced in the organization?

Malcom thinks for a moment and says he would take people’s physical health far more seriously, because he thinks people are much happier when they get a chance to regularly exercise but sadly most people's schedules don’t allow for that. I couldn’t agree more with that viewpoint. I would like to think that Malcolm would be a big fan of Life Well Lived, a four-month program focused on the health and wellbeing of our Toronto associates. The 2019 edition kicks off March 25th
